Our Voices Project

Host a Screening & Talkback for Being Black in America!

The fight for Black liberation and justice in America is far from over and, for us, that means enacting change through art. Being Black in America challenges audiences to confront hard truths, question narratives, and reflect on the multifaceted, lived experiences of a diverse group of Black Americans.

This is more than just a documentary—it's a call to action.

By hosting a screening, you create a space where real, honest conversations about race, identity, education, and systemic injustice can take place. These are the kind of conversations that Black Americans not only have all of the time but they're also the kind of conversations that build solidarity and can inspire tangible change in your community. It doesn't stop at conversations either. With hosting a screening, you're not only providing space for vital discussions, but also for an audience to come together - led by Black voices - to create action items to start implementing then and there.

Whether you’re part of a college/university, a grassroots organization committed to Black liberation, or a business committed to racial equity, your voice and actions matter, and our film offers the platform to amplify it.

Why Host a Screening?

Confront the Realities of Blackness in America

Explore powerful stories of a diverse group of Black Americans as they reflect on what it means to them to be Black in America.

Create Brave & Safe Spaces
Facilitate raw, unfiltered discussions that break away from the sanitized narratives about Blackness and dive deep into the truths too often ignored.

Lift As We Climb
We believe in giving folks also doing this work in other capacities a platform to build their networks, audiences, and potential partners as well. This means partnering with Black-owned businesses and organizations that align with our values. Each of our screenings are an opportunity to bring in folks committed to bettering their community to engage with audiences to work together towards racial equity in their community and contribute action items.

Demand Action
Use this film to push for real change—whether it’s in your school, organization, or community. Let these stories inspire concrete action toward a more equitable society for Black folks -- and therefore, liberation for all.

Where can I host a screening?

You can host wherever's most convenient for your audience. Whether it be a movie theater, community center, library, place of worship, college/university, or any other space, we'd recommend holding a screening that has access to a large projector, audio and visual equipment, and space for Black-led organizations and businesses to host tables where audiences can engage with the folks behind them before and after the event.

You can also host a screening virtually and have folks hold breakout rooms and report back to each other to give your audience members each a chance to engage in an action item or two before ending the event. We, the filmmakers, can also make a guest appearance for an additional fee.
